Most of the big image generators have quietly agreed on how to mark their output. Look for the corner logo first

Why "no watermark" keeps fooling people
It feels logical that a real Grok image would carry the logo, so a clean picture must be a genuine photo. With Grok that reasoning is especially unsafe. The corner mark is trivial to crop, and there's no robust hidden watermark underneath it to catch what the crop misses — the safety net that a SynthID or C2PA image would still have. Add in that platforms re-compress and strip metadata on upload, and the most convincing fakes — cropped, cleaned, and reshared until they look native to your feed — are exactly the ones with nothing left to detect.
